WHAT TO EXPECT
"Wait? You don't have your own building?"
Yes, it's true. We do not own a building yet. We are actively saving money towards that goal (have you noticed how expensive real-estate is right now?!). According to Scripture, a church is not a building but is people! Kind of like how a team is not a field or stadium, but is people who make up the team. Several studies suggest that it takes the average church 10 years to get their first church building. Since our first service, we have been blessed to utilize a space at the Hannah Grimes Center for Entrepreneurship. Until we have our own space, we will be faithful to gather together and continue to save money for our own property. God has blessed us in wonderful ways, even though we don't own our own property yet. Come and visit to see for yourself!
Nursery and Children's Classes
We offer a nursery in all services for children 3 and under. We have a Children's Church (4 years old through 5th grade) that runs during the 10:30 Worship Service each Sunday morning. Typically, the kids start in the main service and then are dismissed before the message.
We have trained workers with your children. You can rest assured that they are being cared for and taught the Bible on their level!
No Judgment
Have you ever been to a church where you didn’t feel welcome or felt like you were judged? Yeah, us too. We strive not to be that place. Made a mess of your life? Welcome to the club. Maybe you’re too embarrassed to even show your face in church. We’ve been there! There is hope in Jesus and His church. Come, learn about the grace of God and experience it for yourself!
While some may choose to dress formally, there is no dress code for our services; all are welcome to attend. Pastor Zach and his family would love to meet you before or after one of our services!
Worship Service
Our Sunday morning services usually last for about an hour. We will sing hymns. We will have a time of prayer and worship where we clear our minds of distractions and recognize the greatness of God.
Every time you come to Keene Baptist, we’re going to open God’s Word. We are a Bible-preaching and Bible-teaching church. We don’t take a Bible”-ish” thought and talk story, but take a portion of Scripture and dissect it and apply it to our lives. We place a HUGE emphasis on expository Bible teaching and preaching.
Sunday Afternoon Service
Our Sunday afternoon service is a totally distinct service from Sunday Morning. We sing some more, pray some more, and have another message from the Word. However, the message in this service is typically a "teaching time" in which we learn Bible doctrines and theology. We do not have Children's Church for this service; the children typically sit with their parents.
Mid-Week Bible Study
Our Mid-Week Bible study is an informal service in which we sing a hymn or two, take prayer requests, and get into an interactive Bible study. It is a great time to interact around a text of scripture and help each other understand that text. Don't worry, Pastor Shives and the other leaders are diligent to make sure the discussion stays on point. While this is usually a smaller service, it is a highlight of the week for many!
